PROJECT BACKGROUND

We were contacted by clients from Buckshaw Village near Chorley as they had two daughters who both really needed new bedroom spaces. The girls, Olivia, aged 11 and Imogen, aged 5 had not had their rooms redecorated for some time and as a result were no longer age appropriate for them. The decision had been made to move them out of their exitsting rooms completely and utilise the two rooms on the top floor of the house. The benefits of this also meant that they had a bathroom that they could share and also a shared landing in between the rooms that could be made into a shared work space for them to do homework.

WHAT WE DID

We consulted with the family, created a design brief and a mood board for each room. We then space planned and designed bespoke furniture solutions for both rooms and for the shared workspace to maximise space and functionality. All other furniture, soft furnishings, lighting and carpets were sourced and installed. The furniture was beautifully constructed to specification on site by Martin, our fabulous joinery contact. Finally, all painting and decorating was carried out including hand painting all bespoke furniture and both rooms were accessorised and dressed ready for the girls to move in.

OLIVIA, 11

Olivia loves performance and drama. She was keen for her new room to be dramatic and glamourous with “plenty of sparkle!” She wanted a luxurious, grown up, boutique feel incorporating her favourite colours, rose gold and turquoise.

 Imogen, 5

Imogen loves colour! She is visually drawn to bright multicolours and requested that her new room feature rainbows and unicorns. Some of the main colours that were highlighted during consultation were pink, red, blue, purple and gold. In the words of Imogen, “It needs to be beautiful, colourful and pretty…. And have sparkle”! (Just like Olivia) It was also important to reflect some of the elements from Olivia’s room in Imogen’s. This was done using the fairy lights, the bed canopy and by using similar furniture.
