PROJECT BACKGROUND

The client for this small office transformation had recently moved into new premises and contacted DJK Interiors as there was a large room on the ground floor that was being under utilised. The room is double aspect and was once two separate spaces and after consulting it became apparent that the best use of the space would be to make it as flexible as possible in order to accomodate the various needs of a growing business.

WHAT WE DID

Following the consultation, we created a mood board to depict the proposed look and feel of the new space/s. We then set to work designing a bespoke partition system to divide the room in half creating the possibility of having two small rooms or one large one which would form the basis of the transformation. It has three equally sized floor to ceiling panels that can be easily and quickly removed and stored neatly inside the alcoves next to one of the chimney breasts. After the design was approved, we worked with our joinery contact on the finer design details, we even added sound proofing! Once it was constucted and installed, it was then painted and wallpapered on one side.

Finally we sourced the furniture and helped with the finishing touches.

The room is now primarily used as two spaces, one half is a meeting space, currently laid out in a board room set up and is simple and fresh in its styling. The other half has a much more social set up and has fold away hot desks. It is informal with its beach café, seaside feel and the use of colour makes it feel like a laid back, fun and contemporary style work space. Although the two spaces are different, they have been designed in such a way that still enables them to work well as one space when the partition is removed either partly or entirely. The spaces are to be used both by company employees and by external businesses to use as satellite office/meeting space. Known as, “The Business Retreat” the idea is for it to be a hub, a place where resources, training, advice and support can all be accessed by the company and by the wider business community.
